Superintendent's Message

Welcome to the Brooklyn Public Schools’ district website.  The Brooklyn School is a pre-kindergarten through grade 8 learning community which strives to ensure that each student is learning to the best of his/her ability.  The family atmosphere at the Brooklyn School provides a safe and supportive environment in which students can explore, learn, and grow.

The 2016/17 school year is indeed promising!  We have two new administrators and seven new teachers this year:   Ms. Shelley Michaud, the Principal of of the Brooklyn Elementary School and Mr. Mark Weaver, our BES Assistant Principal; Deborah Holmes, Grade 1; Brandon Clark, Grade 3; Jillanne Payant, Grade 3; Taylor Crawford, Grade 4; Laura Gatlin, BES Art; Matthew Kiefer, Grade 7 Language Arts; and Sarah Gilpatrick, Grade 8 Mathematics.  We welcome all our new teachers to the Brooklyn School Community and are delighted that our veteran teachers are back to start another school year.

The district and each school have set goals for improved student achievement, with a special focus on mathematics, and goals for parent involvement.  You will hear more about these goals from the schools and district as the year progresses.

Have a fantastic year!  Brooklyn is indeed a special place.
