Citing On-line Sites
An important skill to understand

This project will lead you through the necessary steps of citing various online resources using the MLA (Modern Language Asssociation) guidelines. Download the worksheet here to get started or use the copy provided for you in class.

Do NOT use Citation Machine, yes it works well, however, I want you to think about the components of proper citations.

  1. Open a Word document and save it to your folder as CitingSites.doc.
  2. Set up the formatting to be double spaced.
  3. Set the hanging indent to .5".
  4. Open the following websites and write the correct citation using the worksheet handout for instructions.
  5. If information that is required for a correct citation is not available then skip it. For example if you cannot find the "Authors name" or the "Date the site was last revised", skip this part of the citaiton.
