A Message From The Principal ~ Mrs. Rotella

August 23, 2011

Dear Parents and Friends,

Welcome back to school for another exciting year!  As you know I am new to the Brooklyn Elementary School but not to the business of education!  I have been a principal for over 15 years and look forward to many more now that I have found such a wonderful new “home” at Brooklyn Elementary School.

In the short amount of time that I have been here I have made several observations that I would like to share with you.

  • The teachers are very professional and are working hard in their classrooms to make your child/children feel special on the first day of school.
  • The Reading and the Math programs are research based and highly effective.
  • The workshops conducted before school started, that every teacher went to, were designed to help the teachers look at and discuss student data. The information gleaned from the data is valuable and will be used when planning differentiated instruction.
  • Safety protocols and procedures are in place, and you can be certain your child  is safe and secure when at school.  The no food policy for events will continue to insure that our students with food allergies are safe.  You can read more about that in the Parent/ Student Handbook.
  • At Brooklyn Elementary School every decision is made with your child’s best interest in mind.

If you have any questions or concerns I can be reached via e-mail at:  rotella@brooklynschools.org.  If you would like to meet with me personally please make an appointment with Mrs. McCallum.  I will be available and look forward to meeting you all at the PTO BACK TO SCHOOL COOKOUT on September 1st.

Best regards,

Fran Rotella, principal
