Putnam Elms

The Putnam Elms house was built around 1784-1786. It was built by Godfrey Malbone, and is now owned by the Col. Daniel Putnam Association. It was built for Godfrey Malbone's wife's brother, Nathaniel Brinley. The Putnams were known for making people feel at home. People were able to dine at the Putnam's house. People looked forward to getting invited.

The house is still owned by descendents of Daniel and Israel Putnam. The Putnam Elms house is located on Church Street. There is a tree that is more than 300 years old. There are old-fashioned toys and working tools in the Putnam Elms House. There are many displays of old pictures there, too. There is a big field where people have their pictures taken. There is a kitchen and they cook food in there. The kitchen addition used to be a much older house on Day Street. They have an old barn, and an old house, and old rooms. You can go and see the Putnam Elm's exhibit on Sunday.
