Old Trinity Church
Old Trinity Church
is the oldest Episcopal church standing in Connecticut. Old Trinity Church
is on Church Street in Brooklyn. People come from all over to see this church
and to visit the very interesting graveyard. Old Trinity Church was built
by Godfrey Malbone and a group of his followers. Malbone was the greatest
land owner in town. One of the few ways to escape paying taxes for the town
meeting house (Congregational Church) was to build a church of England or
Episcopal church. Old Trinity Church was dedicated on April 12, 1771. It is
on the National List of Historic Places.
