Old Meeting House


Israel Putnam helped to build the Old Meeting House in 1771 . The Old Meeting House is in the center of town across from the Brooklyn Library . The Old Meeting House, or Unitarian Church, had a bell tower. The steeple was held up by eight posts. The church was damaged in a hurricane in 1938. The Old Meeting House had a floor that was added to the church. The Old Meeting House was built under the leadership of Israel Putnam. The cost for all the work needed was estimated at $60,000. The Unitarian Church is one of our historical buildings.
