Meet Dewi, the Welsh Dragon!

Shw mae (pronounced shuh my). That means "Hi Ya" in Welsh! My name is Dewi. (pronounced Deh Wee). I am a red dragon that belongs to Year Three at St. Helens School in Barry, Wales. Being a red dragon in Wales is a very hard job. You see, the red dragon is the national symbol of Wales. You will see me on the Welsh flag. I am on many other things, like rugby shirts and soccor jerseys. Now, I don't want to sound like I am boasting, but everyone recognizes me in Wales. I am exhausted!

I love my home in Barry. You see, Barry is a great town right on the sea.(Bristol Channel, actually) Our history goes back hundreds of years. We have a castle, nice beaches, and even a great amusement park called Barry Island. There is so much to do here.

But, I needed a rest from all my responsibilities. So, when Brooke Bear asked me to exchange homes for a few weeks, I jumped at the chance! I have been longing to visit America. Now I have the opportunity! I hope I get to meet the American national symbol, the bald eagle while I am there.
